FORT WORTH, Texas - The Colorado State volleyball team faced off with the Horned Frogs Saturday afternoon for the 13th time in conference history. Having lost at TCU in five sets last year, the Rams had something to prove, but fell short.

The No.13 Rams lost, 3-1 (20-25, 23-25, 27-25, 22-25) to the Frogs, just the third time the Rams have been defeated this season.

"We missed serves and couldn't pass well, but hitting was good," said Head Coach Tom Hilbert. "You can't always win through hitting."

The entire match was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams with the officials playing both sides depending on the set.

The first set was tightly contested, but late in the match the Frogs pulled ahead for a 25-20 win. But much like the first set the second set was tight and the Rams fell to the Frogs, 25-23.

The Rams didn't go away quietly, winning the third set 27-25, and taking the Frogs to three set points. Senior All-American Mekana Barnes led the Rams with six kills for the set.

In the fourth set, once again the Rams trailed the Frogs and lost, 25-22.

"We not playing as aggressive on the road," said Hilbert. "TCU played very well and as a result we couldn't point score."

The Rams had several service aces, including two from Barnes, two from redshirt freshman Katelyn Steffan, and two from sophomore Jacque Davisson. Sophomore Danielle Minch led the Rams and had a career-high four service aces. The Rams totaled 11 service aces for the match.

With several service aces came several service errors as well. The Rams had 17 service errors for the match.

Next the Rams will host San Diego State at home, Thursday at 7 p.m. The weekend concludes with UNLV Sunday at 1 p.m. to wrap up the regular-season home schedule.
