The Colorado State volleyball team improved to 2-2 on the season with a three-game sweep over Wake Forest in the Coors Invitational, 30-17, 30-27, 30-25 in front of 1,009 fans in Moby Arena. The Demon Deacons fall to 0-1 on the year.

Colorado State was led by sophomore outside hitter Jaime Strauss with her second double-double of the season, recording a match-high 13 kills to go along with a match-high tying 13 digs. Freshman libero Katelin Batten also had 13 digs, while senior outside hitter Katherine Whitney chipped in 10. Sophomore setter Ashley Fornstrom and freshman middle blocker Tessa Nelson shared match highs with six blocks each, while Batten recorded two aces on the evening. Junior right-side hitter Tonya Mokelki hit a match-high .412 on the evening (9-2-17), while Strauss hit a career-best .391 (13-4-23).

"We came out more relaxed and confident tonight," said head coach Tom Hilbert. "We didn't give away a whole lot of silly points to the other team and we disrupted them with our serving and blocked the ball very well."

Wake Forest was led by Natalie Mullikin with 10 kills, while Jessica Furlong had 11 digs and libero Natasha Schaefer chipped in 10. Jackie Lucas led the Deacons with four blocks.

Colorado State hit .256 in the match with 49 kills, 47 digs ,11 blocks and four aces and held Wake Forest to a .045 hitting percentage with 31 kills, 38 digs, seven blocks and six aces. Both teams missed eight serves.

In the first match of the Coors Invitational, James Madison defeated Florida Atlantic in three games. Tomorrow morning, Wake Forest and Florida Atlantic will begin the action at 10 a.m., while the Rams and Dukes will square off at noon.
