Rams Look to Build on Strong Fall in Spring Slate

Colorado State starts its spring season at the three-day Prestige in California

FORT COLLINS – Colorado State men's golf will take its momentum from a dominant fall season into a competitive spring schedule that will test the Rams against some of the nation's top programs. 

The Rams will start the spring slate with The Prestige (Feb. 17-19) in La Quinta, Calif., hosted by UC Davis at PGA West's Norman Course. The tournament boasts a highly competitive field, including ranked programs No. 6 North Carolina, No. 15 Pepperdine, No. 23 Texas Tech and No. 45 Stanford.

Looking back at the Rams' fall schedule, CSU opened with three consecutive victories in September, claiming titles at the Ram Masters Invitational, Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, and Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational. The Rams finished a combined 72-under par across the three tournaments, inking their lowest team round in the final day at the Ram Masters with a 267 (-13). 

Individually, Matthew Wilkinson (71 avg.) and Christoph Bleier (71.33 avg.) paced the squad in the fall, both recording multiple Top-10 finishes. Wilkinson placed first at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational with a 10-under card, while Jake Rodgers finished runner-up at the Ram Masters with a 201 (-9). Junior Alessandro Trenta also had a breakout performance, shooting a team-low 64 (-6) in the final round of the home tournament. 

As a team, Colorado State dominated the field throughout the fall: 

  • The Rams finished 67-11 in head-to-head competition, winning three tournaments by comfortable margins. 

  • Rodgers posted four rounds of 67 or better, tying for the most on the team. 

  • Five different Rams recorded at least one Top-5 individual finish, showing the team's depth. 

  • Jay Pabin secured an individual win at The Preserve Golf Club Collegiate with a 207 (-9) total.

5/12-14 – NCAA Men's Golf Regional (Six Regional Sites) 

5/23-28 – NCAA Men's Golf Championship (Carlsbad, CA / Omni La Costa Resort) 

CSU looks to secure a fourth-consecutive NCAA Regional berth, with the postseason beginning May 12-14 at six regional sites. The NCAA Championship is set for May 23-28 at Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, Calif.
