FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State volleyball team battled Cincinnati to four sets, before falling 3-1 on Saturday morning in Moby Arena. The Rams' had a balanced offense, with three players reaching double-figure kills, but the Bearcats held the attack to a .169 mark.

The opening set was an all-out brawl as there were 11 tie scores and four lead changes. Neither team led by more than four points all match as the largest lead was in favor of Cincinnati as 17-12 and 18-13. The Rams put together a 6-1 run late to tie the set at 19-19 and took the lead at 22-21, but the Bearcats finished the set with a 4-1 scoring advantage to steal the first frame.

Set two was more of the same, as again, neither team led by more than four points. Colorado State started the match by taking a 5-1 lead to force Cincinnati to take a timeout. The Bearcats then eliminated the Rams' lead and tied the frame at 17-17. Both teams traded points down the stretch as the match was knotted 24-all before Cincinnati capitalized on a CSU service error and a kill to secure a 2-0 match lead.

Colorado State's offense seemed to find its rhythm early in the third set, as it broke out a 6-1 run to grab a 15-10 lead. Cincinnati again eliminated the Rams' cushion and took control at 21-19 to force CSU to take a timeout. Both teams traded points through the end of the set, as it was tied 27-27. Colorado State forced a fourth frame as a Breana Runnels kill and a Bearcat attack error gave the Rams the set win.
