Former director of operations becomes new assistant coach
FORT COLLINS – Hanna Grow-Morales Escobedo will carry a bigger role for the Colorado State women's tennis program, being elevated to the team's assistant coach by head coach Mai-Ly Tran on Wednesday.
Â
Grow-Morales Escobedo spent last year as the program director of operations. She fills the role vacated by Pasha Zinchenko, now the head coach at South Dakota.
Â
"I'm thrilled to welcome Hanna into the assistant coach role. She has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, genuine care for those around her, and an unwavering work ethic," Tran said. "Her passion for the game of tennis is something I deeply respect, but also an inspiration to our team as we continue to build a strong and united culture. I can't wait to see the energy and impact she brings as we continue elevating our program together."
Â
Grow-Morales Escobedo graduated from Texas A&M in 2018 with a B.S. in sport management and business, competing for the school's club tennis team from 2014-18. Upon graduation, she interned as the director of operations for the Aggies for both the men's and women's team, additionally coaching at the Texas A&M team camps, the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch and Miramont Country Club.
Â
She moved to Colorado the next year, coaching the Berthoud High School girls team for five seasons, leading the Spartans to the state tournament for four consecutive years and leading the team to the first regional title in the program's history. She continued her work with junior tennis programs in the area and supported events at the Genesis Health Clubs while conducting lessons at the Lewis Tennis School.
Â
"Last year, I served as CSU's Director of Operations, where I loved supporting the team both on and off the court," she said. "I am honored and excited to step into the role of assistant coach, where I will continue to build relationships, support our student-athletes, and help the program grow this season."
Â
The Rams begin their fall campaign by hosting the Jon Messick Invitational at the CSU Tennis Complex on Sept. 12-14.
