The Rams turn their focus to unity against Fresno State and San Jose State

Colorado State Volleyball had an all-star weekend.

Both Eve Wilson and Erin Debiec were honored by the Mountain West, Wilson as Defensive Player of the Week and Debiec as Freshman of the Week because of their performances against Air Force and Wyoming.

The recognition was not only something they were proud of, but it felt shared in a way, among the entire roster.

"It kind of helped us realize that we played a really nice and cohesive weekend," Wilson said. "I think a lot of things came together nicely and, especially when Erin wins an award, that means everybody was firing on all cylinders and we had a really balanced offense."

Balancing the offense has been a continuing theme throughout the conference season as the front line is constantly changing. Libero Aine Doty knows this well as she must adapt with every new rotation.

She is one of the oldest players on the team and she knows what it's like to win a Mountain West Championship. Her calming presence shows up for those who need it most and she knows that consistency is one of the greatest gifts she can give them.

"I think, no matter who comes on the court, I want to uplift my teammates no matter what," Doty said. "No matter who they are I want to communicate with them about what shots are open and just give them confidence, especially if they are coming on the court during a really tight game."

That's another thing which has improved week by week, the ability to finish when in binding circumstances.

Coming off a four-game win streak, the Rams are looking to continue with the momentum and take every game as a new challenge.

"Even if we had a good weekend, it doesn't change how hard we work in practice the next day," Wilson said. "We're trying to keep the momentum from how we start the game."

Starting with vigor gives an undoubtable advantage in the long run.

That consistent energy has become a defining part of their identity, something that carries over no matter the opponent.

"One of the core values of our team is unity," Doty said. "So, it's just continuing to have that unity even if we're getting smoked by the other team. Knowing that we always have each other's back builds that trust for when we play harder teams."

As they continue to build that sense of unity, the Rams now turn their focus to another pivotal week at home—a chance to keep their streak alive and further cement their rhythm. They'll open the stretch against Fresno State on Oct. 30 before hosting San Jose State for their annual Orange Out match on Nov. 1. With momentum on their side and a growing sense of cohesion, Colorado State aims to turn Moby Arena into a statement stage.
