Colorado State extends win streak to five
Colorado State wrapped up its road non-conference schedule with a 2-1 win over Idaho State on Sunday afternoon. The win extended the Rams' win streak to five, tying the program record set during the 2021 season.
ÂIt was a high-octane affair for both teams who managed double-digit shots. The Rams controlled the offense early, outshooting the Bengals 10-3 in the first half. The first score of the match was courtesy of Liv Stutzman who was able to score from deep when she caught the Bengal goalkeeper out of position. The strike was Strutzman's first as a Ram. Less than four minutes later the Bengals netted their one and only goal with a header off a cross. The score was the first allowed by the Rams in 419 minutes, dating back to their season opener against Denver last month.Â
ÂThe Bengals changed their tune in the second half sending nine shots toward the net, none of which were able to pass junior goalkeeper Shayna Ross. Ross only saw one shot on net in the final 45 minutes when a Bengal attacker broke through the Rams defense in the 64th minute.Â
ÂThe Rams notched the only tally of the second half when Mia Massey took a ball from Avery Vander Ven scored in the 53rd minute. The goal was the first of the sophomore's career. Ali Yoshida was also credited with an assist for the second consecutive match.
ÂColorado State turns its attention to the final week of non-conference play as they host Utah Tech at 4 p.m., on Thursday before closing the week out with Utah on Sunday at 1 p.m.
