INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Breann Fuller, one of the most decorated swimmers in Colorado State history, saw her career come to an end Saturday at the 2013 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships.
After qualifying for the Championships in both the 100 and 200 Backstroke, Fuller finished 24th in the 200 Backstroke prelims (1:55.04), the same place she held Friday in the 100 Backstroke.
A total of 52 athletes competed in the event on Saturday. Like Friday, Fuller's places in the 100 and 200 Backstroke events are the highest for a CSU individual since Kristen Schneider finished 19th in the 200 Backstroke in 2004.
The Brighton, Colo., native was again just eight places away from qualifying for the night's finals session and reaching All-America status. She swam seven places better than originally seeded—she came into the weekend ranked 31st nationally—and recorded the third-fastest time in school history.
Fuller is a two-time NCAA Championships qualifier, finishing 48th in the 100 and 200 Backstroke events in 2009. At CSU, she holds five school records and is a four-time MW champion. Fuller is a three-time Academic All-Mountain West recipient and holds a 4.0 GPA as a master's student.
