Greg Primus still ranks as one of the greatest receivers in Ram football history with 3,263 yards and 194 career receptions. Primus, a 1988 graduate of Denver’s George Washington High School, exploded as the Rams’ premier receiver during the amazing 1990 season when CSU was undefeated at home and victorious in the 1990 Freedom Bowl. Primus’ great catch and touchdown in that game remains as one of the school’s longest receptions for a touchdown in a bowl game. A two-time all-conference selection, Primus received honorable mention for All-American in 1991 and is one of only three CSU athletes to receive the Nye Award twice. During the 1992 season, Primus broke the school’s all-time receiving record and upono graduation held the school record for most receiving yards in a single game, 256 against Hawaii in 1991.Â
Primus not only showed great success on the field, but as a student-athlete, ranking among the best in CSU football history. He received three scholar-athlete post-graduate scholarships. After being drafted by the Denver Broncos and spending three seasons with the Chicago Bears, he returned to medical school at the University of Chicago from 1997 to 2001. Since 2001 he has worked as an orthopedic surgeon in Chicago.Â
