CSU water polo earns three All-Academic awards
June 25, 2009
By Nick Sebesta FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches on Friday announced its 2009 women’s All-Academic award winners, and three Rams were among the recipients. Aspen Rapp, Katy Armstrong and Kallie Berry represent Colorado State on this year’s list, honoring those players who succeeded not only in the pool, but in the classroom as well. Armstrong, a junior from Poway, Calif., makes her second appearance on the list after being an all-academic honoree as a freshman. The human development and family studies major maintained a 3.42 GPA while playing a stellar role on the team. This marks the first accolade for Rapp in her collegiate career. A sophomore studying business from League City, Texas, Rapp earned a 3.73 GPA. At Clear Creek high school she earned an All-American award as well from USA Water Polo. Berry, a sophomore apparel and merchandise major from Long Beach, Calif., finished her freshman year with a 3.43 GPA. “It is just another sign that our water polo team is headed on the right direction,” said Assistant Coach Mike Moody. “ More of our players are getting recognized around the nation and fitting the definition of a student athlete.” The Rams are coming off of a season in which they went 16-17 and 11-7 in conference, and finished sixth in the Western Water Polo Association.
