Mike Moody, who facilitates all capacities of the program, completed his eighth season as a water polo coach at Colorado State in 2013, leading the Rams to a fourth-place finish in the Western Water Polo Association standings, tying the program's best mark.

In addition to his time at CSU, he has 14 years of experience as a water polo and swim coach at the college, high school and club levels.

When Moody took over water polo at CSU, the program, which began in 2005, was still building. Under Moody's tutelage, though, water polo earned respect, not only in the region, but across the nation.

In 2012, for the first time in program history, CSU was nationally ranked, earning the No. 20 spot in late January. Again in 2013, CSU received top-20 votes, the fourth consecutive season in which the team has done so.

The Rams completed the regular season as the No. 4 seed in the WWPA standings, and after a quarterfinals win, finished fourth at the Championships, as well. The finish tied the program's best mark, also in 2010. In 2011, the Rams entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed, and was receiving votes on five occasions throughout the year. Under Moody's watch, CSU earned its first All-American in Ali Pavlik.

Moody also helped the Rams partner with the Veterans Memorial Aquatics Center, a state-of-the-art venue located in Thornton, Colo., and the new home of the Rams. The center helped bring national competition to the state of Colorado. It also marked the first time that CSU played its home contests in a regulation-size pool.

Moody coached success in the pool, but also in the classroom.

In both 2011 and 2012, CSU was recognized for its academic achievements by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches. In 2012, the Rams were one of just 13 teams nationally with a combined grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

Moody has also been honored for his wisdom of the sport as he was nominated for the Western Water Polo Association Coach of the Year in 2010.

A lot of his enthusiasm for swimming and water polo comes from being a competitive athlete for over 10 years. As a swimmer at Green River High School, Moody earned four varsity letters, three all-conference honors, three all-state selections and an automatic All-American relay time that still stands as a state record today.

The athlete attended Grossmont College, where he earned an associate's degree. He swam two years at Grossmont, with his team placing third and fifth at state two different years. He also played water polo, placing sixth at state and winning a conference championship.

He has coached many teams in both swimming and water polo. He also has coached or been the assistant coach for nine league championship teams as well as 10 teams that have gone to the CIF playoffs while in San Diego. In the winter of 2001 Moody helped coach the Poway High School women's water polo team to a CIF championship.

He married his wife, Rebecca, in June 2012.
