FORT COLLINS, Colo. – CSU volleyball athlete Brieon Paige was named to the COBRA Magazine All-West Region Team this week, joining only 15 other players from her region.

COBRA Magazine celebrates the success of volleyball players of African descent in hopes of encouraging young African-American girls across the country to pursue the sport. The magazine awarded eight regional teams, as well as eight regional players of the year.

A 6-foot-2 middle blocker from Sacramento, Calif., the redshirt sophomore has played in 101 sets so far this season for CSU, and boasts 138 kills for the Rams. Currently, Paige is hitting .353 on the season, which ranks second on the team and third in the Mountain West Conference.  Entering Friday’s first-round NCAA tournament match against Cal State Fullerton, she also ranks second on the team in total blocks with 92, including seven solo blocks.

The daughter of Paula and Stephone Paige, who played football at Fresno State and 12 years in the NFL, Paige is majoring in communications.
