LEXINGTON, Ky. — After four victories last week, including three away from Moby Arena, the Colorado State Rams are again moving up in the AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll. Announced Monday, CSU is the top team in the ‘Receiving Votes’ category.
The Rams have steadily climbed each week, earning 15 points in the preseason poll (38th nationally), before receiving 50 last week (31st) after a 2-0 start to the season. On Monday, CSU earned 125 total points, which is ranked No. 26, just outside the top-25.
In its history, CSU has been ranked in 235 of the 448 all-time polls — 15th in the nation — and have received votes in dozens of more polls.
For the second consecutive week, there were several shifts in the poll, particularly near the top. USC jumped two spots to claim the top ranking after the No. 1 team fell for the second consecutive week. Texas—the preseason No. 1—defeated No. 1 Penn State and No. 2 Stanford in the Nike Big Four Classic in Austin, Texas, over the weekend. The Longhorns moved up to No. 2, followed by Penn State, Minnesota and Florida.
Texas A&M, which CSU will host on Sept. 21, earned 22 points (33rd).
CSU is off to a 6-0 start to the season, the fifth-best in program history, and best since 2001. The Rams return to the court tomorrow to face Denver at Hamilton Gymnasium (7 p.m. MT). CSU will return home to host Missouri State the following night at Moby Arena (Wednesday at 7 p.m.).
