LET'S GET IT STARTED: The Rams opened the 2008 season in impressive fashion by posting a perfect 3-0 record and winning the Hilton Classic. Mekana Barnes was named tournament MVP while Tessa Nelson earned all-tournament honors. The Rams swept their first two opponents (Arkansas and Denver) before topping Eastern Washington in five sets to complete the three-match sweep.

NEW ADDITION: Redshirt freshman Katelyn Steffan made her CSU debut over the weekend at the Hilton Classic and didn't waste any time impressing the Rams faithful. The 6-4, outside hitter from Dickinson, N.D., played in all 11 sets and registered 27 kills while hitting .367 (27 kills-9 errors-49 attacks). She also added nine blocks and helped lead the Rams to a perfect 3-0 start to the season. In her collegiate debut against Arkansas on Friday night, she tallied seven kills and three block assists for 8.5 points. Steffan then followed that up with a pair of 10-kill matches in the final two outings including hitting .529 (10 kills-1 error-17 attacks) in the second match against Denver. She tallied her career high with 12.5 points on 10 kills and five block assists in a thrilling five-set match against Eastern Washington in the finale on Saturday.
