FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State Rams volleyball team and Head Coach Tom Hilbert have announced its 2017 schedule, which includes a record 19 home matches at Moby Arena. Included among the many home opponents are rival Colorado, national power Michigan and a season-opening contest against Duke.
The Rams have seven matches against five different 2016 NCAA Tournament competitors – all of whom won at least one game in the tournament and including two that reached the regional semifinals. In total, CSU will play programs from a dozen different conferences.
CSU opens with its first of three non-conference tournament weekends at Moby Arena. The Rams will host Duke for the season opener on Friday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. MT. The last time the Blue Devils visited Moby Arena was in 2010, when 6,333 fans witnessed the Rams take the win in four sets. The match still ranks as the third-highest attended contest in the history of volleyball at Moby.
The Rams will host UCF from the American Athletic Conference the next night, Aug. 26, at 8 p.m. That match will follow the opening football game between CSU and Oregon State at the new on-campus football stadium at 1 p.m. earlier that day.
Northern Colorado will visit CSU on Aug. 29 before the Rams depart for Tallahassee, Fla., to play in a tournament against host Florida State, TCU and UNC Asheville, Sept. 1-2. Florida State reached the regional semifinals of the NCAA Tournament last season, falling to eventual champion Stanford. TCU also made the postseason, beating Wichita State in the first round of the tournament. The Tallahassee trip is the only road action for the Rams before Mountain West play begins.
Michigan, Ball State and Idaho State are next on the CSU schedule, with matches scheduled for Sept. 8 and 10. The Rams will face the Wolverines, who also reached the regional semifinals in the NCAA Tournament, at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8.
The Rams will then host their third and final home tournament, with rival Colorado returning to Moby Arena for a regular season contest for the first time since 2010. The two squads did face off in Fort Collins in the 2014 NCAA Tournament, with the Rams winning in a five-set thriller in front of another massive Moby crowd (6,011, sixth-largest in CSU history) to reach the regional semifinals. CSU has not lost to the Buffaloes in Fort Collins since 1995. Joining CU in the weekend affair will be Albany and Xavier.
CSU will begin its quest for its 19th Mountain West title on Sept. 21 at home against New Mexico. The Rams will stay home to host UNLV on Sept. 23 before heading on the road to play at Wyoming on Sept. 26 and at Air Force on Sept. 30.
CSU will play 18 MW matches, playing each team twice aside from Fresno State (only at home, Nov. 15) and San Diego State (only in San Diego, Nov. 18). CSU plays UNLV and Boise State, the league’s two other NCAA Tournament participants in 2016, twice each.
The Rams will close the season with a post-Thanksgiving non-conference matchup against UC Davis on Nov. 25 at noon.
CSU has been one of the nation’s most consistently successful programs for more than two decades. The Rams have reached 22 consecutive NCAA Tournaments (the seventh longest streak in the NCAA), reaching the 20-win plateau in each of those seasons. Under Hilbert, the Rams own a 254-31 record at home and have ranked in the top 20 nationally in attendance every year since 2004. Last year, CSU was one of only six programs in the country with a single-match attendance of 6,000 or higher (6,253 vs. Texas, Sept. 9).
Season Ticket Renewal Period Continues
The CSU athletics ticket office is continuing to process season ticket renewals for the 2017 season. New season ticket purchases are also being accepted via paid deposits. Packages are available for as low as $60, and fans can choose to pay for their tickets in full or enroll in a convenient four-month billing plan.

Alumni Weekend - Sept. 8-10
The Rams will be hosting an Alumni Reunion the weekend of Sept. 8-10. The event will include a special recognition at the match versus Michigan on Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a group dinner at Moby Arena. The following day, the alumni group will have a special tailgate section for the CSU football game against Abilene Christian at the new on-campus stadium. The weekend will close with a brunch back in Bob Davis Hall at Moby Arena on Sunday, Sept. 10.
