CSU volleyball topples streaking Frogs, 3-0
Rams remain unbeaten in MWC play

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Using a balanced attack that saw five different players record at least five kills, the Colorado State volleyball team swept the TCU Horned Frogs, 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-20), in front of 1,298 fans on Saturday afternoon at Moby Arena.
The victory snapped an eight-match winning streak for TCU (13-4, 2-1 MWC) and marked CSU’s sixth straight victory and third consecutive sweep of a conference opponent, while pulling the Rams (10-3, 3-0 MWC) into a tie with Utah atop the MWC standings.
Junior outside hitter Danielle Minch led the Rams attack finishing with nine kills in the match, while junior Jacque Davisson and sophomore Katlyn Steffan each notched eight kills.
Sophomore setter Evan Sanders, coming off of a career-best four kills in Thursday’s win over New Mexico, bested the mark again on Saturday, putting away seven kills in the match on .700 hitting. Sanders also tied senior libero Katelin Batten for the team lead with 11 digs.
Redshirt freshman Megan Plourde chipped in with six kills and a match-high seven assisted blocks for the Rams. Senior middle blocker Tessa Nelson added five kills.
Colorado State hit .275 as a team, while holding the Horned Frogs to just .108, and outblocking TCU, 9-7.
TCU’s Christy Hudson and Kourtney Edwards notched 13 and 11 kills, respectively.
The Rams return to the court at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, hosting in-state rival Northern Colorado. The match will be televised on a tape-delay basis on Comcast Channel 5, Friday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. The match will also re-air on the Mtn. on Oct. 5.
