In the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) fall central region rankings, Colorado State was well represented with senior Emily Kirchem ranking 13th among singles players and Kirchem and Hilary Tyler 13th in doubles play.
Kirchem had her strongest fall showing, posting a combined record of 14-7 in singles and doubles for the fall (singles, 7-4; doubles, 7-3). She currently has 67 career singles wins, needing 11 more to break the school record of 77 held by Sanja Hansson. Kirchem also has 55 career doubles wins, needing six more to break the school record of 60, also held by Hansson.
Kirchem and Tyler also had the best showing in fall doubles play in recent years. Their 5-1 record, combined with an overall team record of 16-12, is a significant improvement over last fall, when the Rams went 8-17 in doubles.
"Our fall season showed that the top of our line-up can compete with the best teams in the region," head coach Jon Messick commented. "Combined with more team depth this year, we look to move up in the region and the Mountain West Conference."
The Rams begin their spring season at home against Eastern Washington at the Miramont Sport Center on January 28th.
