Sept. 27, 2012
By Cara Maio FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State women’s tennis team will travel to Boise, Idaho this weekend to take part in the Jack Taylor Classic Tournament hosted by Boise State. The tournament begins Friday and concludes Sunday afternoon. The Jack Taylor Classic will be held at three locations in Boise: Appleton Tennis Center, Julia Davis Park and Timberline High School. In addition to CSU, Boise State will host players from Brigham Young, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, Montana State, Seattle, Utah State and Weber State. The tournament format will consist of three single brackets and three doubles brackets. Starting off for CSU will be freshman Abby Stevens playing at 8:30 a.m. Friday (see full first-round schedule below). The Rams enter this weekend’s tournament with seven players undefeated on the young season. At the CSU Invitational last weekend the Rams finished the tournament with a collective singles record of 25-2 and a doubles record of 13-1. This week’s competition represents a significant challenge for the Rams, and the challenge should prepare the team well for the rigors of the season ahead.
