Women's Tennis Departs for Utah to start the 2006-2007 Season
The CSU Women's Tennis team travels to Provo, Utah, for the BYU Invitational Sept. 21-23 to begin their fall tournament play.
Coming off of a 10-13 team record from last year, the Rams look to improve with several new additions to the squad. With three nationally ranked teams, BYU, Washington State, and Boise State, in the BYU Invitational, Coach Jon Messick is, "Anxious to see how competitive the new players are." Two incoming freshmen, Laura Neal and Kirsten Stople, led by University of Iowa transfer, and team captain, Hilary Tyler.
While the Rams may be a failry "young" team, they are "As good of a team as we've seen in a while," Coach Messick commented. He also"likes the attitutde" the 2006-2007 Colorado State women's tennis team is sure to carry with them throughout the season.
2005-2006 Season Notes:
-Anne Andersen and Emily Kirchem became the first doubles team in school history to earn Mountain West All-Conference honors
-Emily Kirchem spent the entire season at the No. 1 singles position, posting a dual record of 13-9 and overall record of 18-15
-Also contributing for the Rams were Greer Satherlie (7-5 Singles, 1-7 Doubles), and Sarah Seltsam (0-5 Singles , 2-1 Doubles)
