FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- The Colorado State women’s tennis team will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., to take on a pair of Mountain West Conference foes for the second straight week, facing Boise State Friday, April 12, at 10 a.m., and New Mexico Saturday, April 13, also at 10 a.m. The Rams enter the road trip with an overall record of 3-11, and are seeking their first conference win.

About The Rams
The Rams enter the weekend with an overall record of 3-11 in the dual season. The Rams claimed a victory against Rhode Island earlier this season at the Air Force Academy, and have statistically played better on neutral sites. Rams’ junior Lauren Pick posted the lone victory for the team when she defeated Nevada’s Monika Magusiak 3-6, 6-4 (10-6) at the No. 6 position.

About Boise State
Boise State comes into the weekend with an overall record of 10-7, 1-2 in conference play. Broncos’ junior Morgan Basil has seen playing time at the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles positions, posting a dual record of 13-3 overall. Basil and doubles partner Sandy Vo have posted a dual record of 12-3, with all of their victories coming at the No. 2 doubles position.

About New Mexico
The Lobos enter the weekend with an overall record of 6-10, 0-3 in conference play. The Lobos’ Michaela Bezdickova has compiled a dual singles record of 12-4, with all of her victories coming at the No. 1 position. The Lobos’ Sarah Mahboob Khan and doubles partner Michaela Oldani have earned time at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions compiling an overall record of 7-5.

Last Week
The Rams went 0-2 on their most recent road trip to Fresno, Calif. The Rams lost to No. 60 Fresno State 7-0, Saturday, April 6. Abby Stevens and sophomore Adriana Wojakowska each won her second set before falling in the tie-breaker. Stevens was topped by Fresno State’s Aishwarya Agrawal 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-2) at No. 1, while Wojakowska fell to Bianca Modoc 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (13-11). The Rams also fell to Nevada 6-1, Sunday April 7. Junior Lauren Pick secured a point for the Rams when she claimed victory at the No. 6 singles position, 3-6, 6-4 (10-6) over Nevada’s Monika Magusiak.

Freshman Impact
Stevens again saw significant time at the No. 1 singles position where she took Fresno State’s Aishwarya Agrawal to a three set tie-breaker, but was defeated 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-2). Stevens and doubles partner, fellow freshman Mollie Cooper, have a combined doubles record of 7-6, with five of those victories coming at the No. 2 doubles position. Kendall Heitzner was held out of singles play due to illness last weekend, but she and doubles partner Kaley Schultz still managed to compete at the No. 1 doubles position, eventually losing 8-2.

Quotes from Jon Messick
“The importance of this weekend is that these are two more conference matches that we have to be ready for,” said head coach Jon Messick. “We have been showing improvement from the first conference matches until now; I thought we showed a lot of improvement against Fresno State and Nevada. I think if we continue to improve I think we will gradually get better results against the different conference opponents. Boise State is going to be really tough, similar to the teams we played last weekend. New Mexico’s record is similar to ours as far as they have done against some common opponents, so we really expect a real close match with them. We are still not one-hundred percent healthy as far as injuries and illness’ but we hope to get to a hundred percent this weekend and see what we can do.”
