FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- The Colorado State women’s tennis team will travel to Laramie, to take on the Cowboys, Saturday, March 30, at 11 a.m.
About The Rams
The Rams enter the road trip with an overall record of 3-8 in the dual season. Rams Freshman Kendall Heitzner went undefeated in singles play on the Rams’ most current road trip by defeating Cal State Fullerton’s Monica Rodriguez 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 3 position, and Cal State Los Angeles’ Jill Sangria 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 4 position. Rams’ junior team captain Kaley Schultz picked up her first dual victory of the season, by defeating Cal State Los Angeles’ Tiffani Shaik 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 3 position.
Wyoming comes into the weekend match with an overall record or 7-7, 1-0 in conference play. Cowboys’ junior Veronica Popovici has a dual record of 7-5 this spring, going 5-5 at the No. 1 position and 2-0 at the No. 2 position. The Cowboys were most recently defeated by Cal State Irvine 5-2. Popovici defeated the Anteaters’ Marivick Mamiit 6-0, 7-6 (10) at the No. 2 position.

The Rams went 1-1 on their most recent road trip to California. They dropped the first match of the week to Cal State Fullerton 5-2. In that match Kendall Heitzner defeated Monica Rodriguez 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 3 position. Natalie Heffron also defeated Tiffany Mai 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 1 position.
“The Wyoming match is going to be tough, they are as good or better as they were last year,” said head coach Jon Messick
. “We really have to make sure that we are taking care of the ball on our side of the net as far as minimizing our error, and then I think we really have to adapt to their style of play which is a little different that some of the players we have been playing against. It is going to be a tough match for us, but I think we match up well and we are going to be prepared.
