FORT COLLINS, Colo. - - The Colorado State women's tennis team will host the New Mexico State Aggies Saturday at Miramont South Lifestyle Fitness Club, 901 S. Oakridge Dr. (behind Sam's Club) and admission is free. The Rams are hoping to use their home court advantage to gain a win against the Aggies due to a historical trend.
Facing New Mexico State each of the last nine seasons, the team with home court advantage has come away with the win. So, the Rams have been edged 4-5 by the Aggies since the 2000 campaign.
"We expect a tough match this weekend," said Head Coach Jon Messick. "It's kind of funny because for the last nine years against the Aggies, whoever had home court got the win."
New Mexico State is entering into Rams territory with a 3-3 spring dual season record. The Aggies are coming off a 7-0 sweep over UT-Pan American Sunday. Before heading to Fort Collins, the Aggies will face off at Air Force on Friday. New Mexico State has a 2-1 record on the road.
"We are looking to play better than last week," said Messick. "We are ready and it would be a good match for fans to come watch."
The Rams will take the court at 5:30 p.m. MST for warm-ups with competition beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Miramont.
