Tennis recap: Rams conclude Day 1 of Boise State Invitational Friday

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State women’s tennis team concluded Day One of the Jack Taylor Classic in Boise, Idaho, Friday, notching 12 victories throughout the day, while extending four player’s winning streaks to four matches.

In singles, the Rams went 10-3. Sophomore Natalie Heffron won her two matches of the day to advance to the quarterfinals. Freshmen Kendall Heitzner, Mollie Cooper and Jennifer Weissmann also won their two matches to advance to the quarterfinals.

“We picked up where we left off from last weekend,” said Head Coach Jon Messick.

Junior Kaley Schultz won her first match 7-5, 6-1 then lost in the second round after a tough match. She won the first set 6-0, then lost 7-5, 6-2.

Heffron battled throughout the day having each match go to a deciding third set.

In doubles, Colorado State went 2-3 on the day.

Colorado State will return to the courts Saturday morning to continue matches at the Jack Taylor Classic. Heffron, Heitzner, Cooper and Weissmann will play Saturday afternoon.
