BOULDER, Colo.- -
The Colorado State women's tennis team completed its second day of competition at the CU-Boulder Invitational Saturday. Playing in four singles matches, the Rams finished 2-2 on the day.
In the main singles draw, Lauren Strasburger and Hilary Tyler dropped their Round 1 matches Friday, which put them in the backdraw. Saturday, in the semifinals, Strasburger defeated Tabatha Knopp of Northern Colorado in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3. She will represent the rams Sunday in the finals of the backdraw. Tyler dropped her semifinals match to Christi Baxley of Oklahoma in a match that went to three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 10-8. Baxley advances to the finals of the backdraw to face Strasburger.
In the lower singles flight, Greer Satherlie earned her second win at the Invite, beating Luiza Xavier of Northern Colorado in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. Anette Pohjalainen dropped her match to Natalie Agarycheva of Northern Colorado, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1.
"We would have liked to win all four matches today, but winning two of four was a good show for us and the matches we lost were three-setters," Head Coach Jon Messick said. "As a team, we competed well today."
Play resumes Sunday at 9 a.m. with two rounds of doubles play, and the remainder of the singles matches.
