LINCOLN, Neb. - The Colorado State women's tennis team dropped its match Sunday, losing to Nebraska, 7-0, at the indoor Nebraska Tennis Center.
The Rams come away from the weekend with a solid win Saturday over Illinois State, and a hard loss Sunday.
In doubles, senior Hilary Tyler ended her doubles win streak, a school-record 11 consecutive wins, with a loss to No. 42 Imke Reimers and Jana Albers, 8-4, alongside Lauren Strasburger. The Rams (1-1, 0-0 MWC) played hard on the doubles court, winning at least four points in each of the doubles matches, but failed to come away with any wins.
"We tried to hang in and get some things to turn our way, but (Nebraska) just didn't let us in," said Head Coach Jon Messick.
In singles play, the Rams had an equally difficult time. Taking the court with an almost identical lineup as Saturday, the Rams were unable to pick up a victory in any of the six matches. Strasburger competed at the No. 1 position, but dropped her match to Reimers in straight sets.
"We just got beat by a really good team," said Messick. "We played hard and well, it just wasn't good enough today."
Having yet to lose a match in its three outings this spring, Nebraska continued its streak, and now holds wins in all 25 of its spring matches.
The Rams return to the court Feb. 16 as they take on New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M., at 11 a.m.
