 Alyssa Cohen

Alyssa Cohen joined Coach Messick in 2005. An accomplished player, Cohen has represented the United States in several international competitions. Her long list of achievements in the sport includes being named the champion at the ITF Group 1 Reebok Cup in Venezuela. Cohen also was an ITF Group A quarter-finalist at the Banana Bowl in Brazil and the Italian Junior Championships. In doubles play, she won the ITF Group 1 Coffee Bowl in Costa Rica and the 25K event in Hamilton, Canada. She was ranked as high as No. 11 in singles on the ITF Junior Circuit in 2000, No. 281 in singles on the WTA Tour in 2003, and No. 225 in doubles on the WTA Tour in 2003. Cohen was nominated for the Florida Tennis Association Player of the Year Award in 2000 and has been sponsored by such companies as Nike, Wilson and Prince. "Alyssa brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our program, having been a tough competitor on the professional tour," Messick said. She graduated as the valedictorian of the Boca Raton Preparatory School in Boca Raton, Fla., class of 2001, and currently attends Colorado State.
