CSU swimming and diving adds two more for 2009-10
Dec. 5, 2008
By Danny Mattie FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State swimming and diving program announced Friday the addition of two in-state talents to its 2009-10 recruiting class. Head Coach John Mattos made the announcement. Lindsay Banning and Kelly Mathews will join Rams signees Arianne Lujan, Genevieve Swartz and Mary Foster, as part of a very strong recruiting class for Mattos. "We are very excited to have Lindsay and Kelly at Colorado State, along with the other three swimmers that we have already signed," Mattos said. Banning, will come to Colorado State from nearby Longmont, Colo., where she competes at Silver Creek High School. "Lindsay is a real up-and-coming sprinter, and she will be a good addition to our program," added Mattos. "She was a regular at our camps when she was younger and has really blossomed into a solid sprinter." Mathews hails from Denver, Colo., where she swims at Denver East High School. "I expect Kelly to step right in where Annsley Lujan will leave off," said Mattos, referring to his senior backstroker. "She will be a good scorer for us. We feel Kelly is coming in with times that rival Annsley's right now, and I'm excited to see what she is capable of. " Colorado State completed its fall schedule Nov. 23 with a strong third-place showing at the Husker Invite. The Rams are 6-3 overall and remain in the hunt in the Mountain West Conference with a 4-1 dual-meet record. The team resumes action Jan. 15-17, hosting Utah, BYU and New Mexico State, respectively, over the three-day stretch.
