FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Rams' swimming & diving program signed four athletes at the top of their high schools for the 2013-14 season. Allison Arnold, Megan Lloyd, Elizabeth Prasse and Karin Roh signed National Letters of Intents during the early signing period, and Head Coach Christopher Woodard made the announcement Friday.

The Rams were able to fill in some of the areas where they are lacking in depth with the recruits.

Arnold comes to the Rams from Legend High School and the Mission Aurora Colorado Swimming club team. Arnold has been recognized for her outstanding ability in the distance freestyle events. She was an All-American for her time in the 500 Freestyle, and also received All-America consideration her sophomore year. Holding several high school records, Arnold was one of the fastest on her high school team, and has received Most Valuable Player honors all three years. For her age group, Arnold was the state champion in the 400 Freestyle. She was also a top-20 finisher in the 2011 and 2012 Western Zone Speedo Champion Series.

“Allison comes to us by way of the MACS Swim Club here in Colorado,” Woodard said. “She is another high school All-American who has the ability to make an immediate impact in the distance freestyle events. Allison is tough, Allison is smart and Allison will certainly challenge the best in the Mountain West.”

Lloyd will fill the shoes of graduating Kelly Mathews quite nicely with her considerable talents in the breaststroke events. Lloyd attended high school at Galena in Reno, Nev. She is considered a tough competitor by her school and local community. She was the Galena MVP, Lakeridge Swimmer of the Year, Northern Nevada Swimmer of the Year in 2010 and the Reno Gazette Journal Swimmer of the Year in 2010. Lloyd has also already had a presence at the Canadian Olympic Trials.

“Megan is a tough  breaststroker with a resume that includes an appearance at Canadian Olympic Trials,” Woodard said. “Training under Sharon Weiss, Megan has made great strides in all her events. She is a tremendous acquisition for the Rams, and should be a force at both the Mountain West and NCAA levels.”

Prasse built her talent in Texas at Cypress Woods High School and DAD's Club Swim Team. Prasse led her high school team in 2012-13 as the captain and was recognized as MVP in 2012. She was all-state second team in the 100 Backstroke and 200 Individual Medley. Prasse has been an eight-time USA sectionals qualifier and four-time sectionals finalist. She has also stayed busy in the classroom, and has earned scholastic All-America honors twice, been inducted in the National Honors Society and received academic all-state recognition.

“Elizabeth is an up-and-coming backstroke and IM specialist, with multiple finals appearances at both USA Sectionals and Texas 5A high school championships,” Woodard said. “She comes with a ton of technique and potential from the nationally recognized DAD’s Swim Club in Cypress. Elizabeth will contribute in arguably the Rams' deepest events, and will definitely have an impact within the conference.”

Roh has a short trip up to Fort Collins from Colorado Springs where she swam with Lewis Palmer High School and Colorado Springs Swim Team. Roh specializes in sprint freestyle and was a 2012 All-American, and a finalist at central sectionals.

“Karin is exactly what we are looking for in our efforts to build a great sprint program at CSU,” Woodard said. “Karin is a product of Mike Doane’s excellent training, and we love keeping the hidden gems from leaving our state. Karin is a high school All-American with the frame, the attitude and the potential to be a great contributor for the Rams in the freestyle events and our relays for the next four years.”
