Early Bird Invitational Up Next... The Colorado State women's swimming and diving team will compete in its first regular-season competition of the 2006-2007 season. The Rams host the Early Bird Invitational in Fort Collins at the Edora Pool and Ice Center (EPIC). CSU is looking to get off to a good start to the season.

Season Preview... John Mattos enters his 27th year as head coach at Colorado State and will lead the Rams against some tough competition in 2006-07. The Rams will once again host the Early Bird Invitational and will also take part in the UC-Irvine Speedo Cup and the U.S. Open, hosted by Purdue. The team also competes against non-conference opponents Denver, Northern Colorado, and UCSB. The Rams swam to a fifth place finish in Mountain West action in in 2005-2006 and look to improve that mark this season.

Returning Seniors ... The Rams return only two seniors this season, Brette Winegarner and Chandra Engs. Winegarner, from Anchorage, Alaska, competes in the backstroke and freestyle. Last season she was named second team All-Conference in the 100 and 200 backstroke. Engs, who earned second team All-Conference as a sophomore competes in freestyle, breaststroke, and individual medley.

2005-06 All-MWC (Returnees)... Lyndsey Cox - (1st team)100 backstroke Karin Knudson - (2nd team) 1-meter diving Brette Winegarner - (2nd team)100 and 200 backstroke

Key Losses... This season the Rams will be without the likes of last years seniors, Liz Jones and Taylor Felton. Both were key contributors to the Rams success last season. Jones received First-Team All Mountain West honors in the 50 meter freestyle and Second-Team honors in 100 and 200 meter freestyle. Felton was named Second-Team in the 1650 meter freestyle.

Bundles of Newcomers... Opponents will have a tough time recognizing the Rams this seasonas there are 15 newcomers to the roster. The Rams added 14 freshman and one junior transfer, Kristie Bowdler, in the offseason.
