FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Head Coach Christopher Woodard and the Colorado State women’s swimming & diving program have added another commit to its 2013-14 roster, announcing on Tuesday the addition of Teagan Griffith. She will primarily focus on freestyle and backstroke events.
“Teagan kind of came up a bit late on our radar, but her athletic frame and solid underwater technique should prove valuable to our squad,” Woodard said. “We’re lucky to have grabbed her and are excited about her future.”
Born and raised in San Luis Obispo, Calif., Griffith was a four-time all-conference selection for San Luis Obispo High School, helping the Tigers to an undefeated conference season in 2013, the school’s first in 10 years.
She won a championship in the 100 Freestyle (53.43), setting a PAC-7 conference record. Griffith was her team’s captain and MVP as a senior, and was a four-time Southern California finals qualifier. She also swam for the San Luis Obispo Seahawks Swim Club.
Away from the pool, she spent five years performing ballet. Her older sister is studying international relations and ballet at Marymount Manhattan College, while her brother is a high school sophomore and league-champion diver. Griffith intends to study communications at CSU.
She is the 16th commit for the 2013-14 season, Woodard’s largest class.
