FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Colorado State junior Melissa Bollig was named to the 2013-14 CoSIDA Academic All-District team on Thursday.
Bollig, a junior from Franktown, Colo., is pursuing a degree in sociology and holds a 4.0 grade-point average.
CSU is part of District 7, which encompasses all Division I schools from the states of Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming. The at-large team award covers female athletes in bowling, crew, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo. She is one of 27 Division I swimmers recognized.
After beginning her career at New Mexico, Bollig transferred to CSU in December 2012. She was forced to sit out a year due to NCAA transfer rules, but made an immediate impact in the pool once she was eligible to return, in January 2014.
Bollig held the Rams' top 1-Meter score of the season of 276.45 and the third-highest for 3-Meter (291.75). The scores qualified her for NCAA Zones, where she finished 35th and 32nd, respectively. At the Mountain West Championships, she earned eighth place in the 1-Meter finals (256.11), placing on the All-Mountain West team.
She is now eligible for Academic All-America consideration, which will be announced later this month.
