COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State diver Ariana Milone has been named this week’s Mountain West Women’s Diver of the Week. The award, which was announced by the conference Wednesday afternoon, is Milone’s second weekly honor of the season and the third of her career.

Milone, still just a sophomore, is the first CSU diver to win two weekly awards in one season since Lori Vigil was named diver of the week three times during the 2002-03 season. Milone was also recognized after her first collegiate meet last season, making her the second diver in program history to earn at least three career honors. Vigil was recognized four times during her career.

The native of The Woodlands, Texas, won six events in three dual-meet competitions last weekend, earning first place on the 1-Meter and 3-Meter boards against North Texas, San Diego State and Tulane. The six top finishes – out of six possible events – helped CSU pick up dominating victories over North Texas (220.5-79.5) and Tulane (223-76). The Rams fell just short against undefeated San Diego State (149-137), the reigning Mountain West champions.

With the wins, CSU improved to 4-3 on the season, CSU’s best record through seven dual meets since going 6-1 in 2009-10.

Milone earned a score of 267.50 on the 1-meter springboard and 290.95 on the 3-meter. Both are NCAA Zone Qualifying scores. As a team, CSU swept the 3-meter event, and took first, second and fourth in the 1-meter. Milone’s performance came in front of nearly 20 family and friends.

In addition to Milone, on Nov. 13 CSU swimmer Jessica Shepard earned swimmer of the week honors. The last time the Rams have earned three weekly honors in one season was in 2008-09.

CSU returns to the pool Saturday to host New Mexico. The meet will begin at 11 a.m. MT, and the team will honor its four graduating seniors. Admission is free.
