FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Erin Foster, a freshman transfer from Virginia Tech, will join the Rams’ swimming and diving team, and her older sister Mary Foster, for the 2012-13 season. Head Coach Chris Woodard made the announcement Monday.
The Woodlands, Texas, native attended Conroe Woodlands High School where she swam under Kent Keirchner. The younger Foster also represented The Woodlands Swim Team, a club squad under coaches Tim Bauer and Scott McFarland. She is an Olympic trial qualifier and national qualifier. A former Texas Class 5A state champion with multiple appearances in her high-school finals, she comes to CSU after a semester in Blacksburg, Va.
Foster’s current top times would place her in the front of pack among CSU athletes in the pool. She adds her talent in the sprint and mid-distance freestyle events as well as the butterfly. A three-time academic high school All-American and five-time All-America honoree, she will look to make her mark on the Mountain West during the 2012-13 season.
“Erin brings a wealth of national-level talent that is hard to overlook,” Woodard said. “She will need some time to recapture her prior form, but once she does, she will be a major competitor for the Rams within the conference and on the national stage.”
