LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The Colorado State Rams were again at their best during Day 2 of the Las Vegas Invite in Las Vegas, Nev., Friday. CSU made a consistent effort to keep up their speed from the prelims to the finals, and was rewarded for its efforts with some of the best finishes of the tournament.
The 100 Breaststroke was the strongest event of the night for CSU. Cristina Bassani led the Rams, finishing 13th in the finals after dropping time from the prelims to finish at 1:04.44. Tess Simpson (1:04.78) and Jenna Beaury (1:07.19) solidified the Rams' force in the event with their respective finishes of 15th and 16th place.
One of the most consistent performers on the team, Jessica Shepard, continued to improve her season best in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 56.59. The sophomore dropped time from the prelims and moved up an incredible five spots to finish in 12th, the highest individual placement of the night for CSU.
The Rams took 12th in both the 800 Freestyle (7:40.74) and 200 Medley Relay (1:45.59). Both times were season bests for the team.
