Colorado State head softball coach Mary Yori today announced the 2005 fall schedule. The Rams will showcase their talents for home fans on a number of occasions during the fall with nine straight contests played at Ram Field.
Ram softball begins its fall slate with a matchup against the CSU Alumni on Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. The Rams will then compete in the Triple Crown/CSU Fall Tournament on Sept. 24 and 25 with all of the Rams' games held at Ram Field. On Saturday, the squad takes on Montana State-Billings at 9 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. matchup against Utah Valley State. The Rams close out the Triple Crown Tournament on Sunday Sept. 25 with games against Regis and Northern Colorado at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively.
The following weekend, the Rams play host to Utah and Nebraska in four games in the Colorado State Fall Tournament on Oct. 1 and 2. The Rams square off with the Utes at 10 a.m. on Oct 1 and 11:15 a.m. on Oct. 2, while facing the Huskers at 2:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 1 and 2, respectively.
Colorado State closes out its fall schedule at the University of Nebraska Fall Tournament Oct. 14-16. The Rams open up the tournament on Oct. 14 against the Canadian National Team at 5:30 p.m., followed by a game against defending NCAA Champion Michigan at 10 a.m. on Oct. 15. Colorado State then closes out the tournament with a pair of games against Creighton scheduled for 12 p.m. on Oct. 15 and 10 a.m. on Oct. 16.
The Colorado State softball features eight returning players including four of the team's five all-conference selections from last season, highlighted by All-Region selection Jessica Strickland who led the Rams in both batting average and ERA in 2005. The Rams have also added 10 necomers to the roster and will look to the fall for those players to gain valuable experience.
