FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Thursday’s Mountain West softball matchup between Colorado State and conference-leading BYU has been moved up an hour, and will now begin at 3 p.m. MT from Ram Field.  Mountain West Conference officials made the time change official late Tuesday afternoon.

The contest is the first of three games slated for late this week at Ram Field, as the CSU softball team closes its 2011 home schedule against the Cougars before hosting Utah on Friday (4 p.m.) and Saturday (1 p.m.).

Both BYU and Utah will travel to Fort Collins this weekend for the final time as Mountain West rivals.  The Utes will transition to the Pac-12 conference next season, while BYU softball is slated to join Western Athletic Conference.

Thursday’s contest is “Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day” when the CSU players will recognize their favorite professors, followed by a post-game home run derby featuring CSU faculty and staff.

The annual “Senior Day” celebration will be held prior to Saturday’s game, as the team will honor four-year players Caitlan Stem and Ivory Allen in their last games at Ram Field.  Saturday is also “Junior Ram Club Day.” Members of the Junior Ram Club will be invited onto the field during the starting lineups.
