FRESNO, Calif. - For the third time in as many days, Colorado State participated in an extra-inning thriller at the Bayer CropScience Classic. The Rams (14-8) outlasted East Tennessee State, 4-3, in nine innings at Bulldog Diamond.

"For the third day in a row our team played with a lot of heart," Head Coach Mary Yori said. "All three pitchers did a good job today and we got key hits when we needed them and found a way to win."

Senior Allison Majam gave the Rams a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when she singled to plate junior Caitlan Stem and sophomore Jenna Krogh. Both Stem and Krogh earned walks to lead off the game.

The Buccaneers answered in the bottom half of the inning when Trisha Massenzo doubled to left center to plate teammate Cheniece Cason, who drew a walk to lead off the inning.

The Rams held a 2-1 advantage until the bottom of the fifth inning when Massenzo and Cason teamed up once again to tie the game, 2-2. Cason led off the inning with a single and scored when Massenzo singled to center field.

Neither team was able to push a run across the plate until the top of the ninth when Colorado State took a 4-2 lead.

Majam was placed on second to begin the inning and advanced to third when senior Ashley Munoz doubled to right center. Majam scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch. Sophomore Ashley MacQueen entered the game to pinch run for Munoz and scored when senior Sarah Sullivan singled to center field.

East Tennessee State threatened in the bottom half of the frame and cut the Rams' lead to 4-3, but sophomore pitcher Kelli Eubanks recorded the final three outs to secure Colorado State's 14th victory of the season and second straight at the Bayer CropScience Classic.

Freshman Kelsey Jo O'Brien started in the circle for Colorado State, tossing 2.1 innings before being relieved by senior Rebecca Penland. Penland threw 2.2 innings before being relieved by Eubanks, who finished the game for the Rams and earned her 10th victory of the season.

Colorado State and Georgetown face off Sunday at 12:30 p.m. MT followed by a make-up game between tournament-host Fresno State at 4:30 p.m. MT.
