FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State women’s soccer head coach Bill Hempen was selected to coach the US Youth Soccer Region III Olympic Development Program ’99 Girls in a tournament in Costa Rica this upcoming weekend.
Hempen, who has been coaching at the collegiate level for over 25 years and ranks No. 17 in NCAA Division I history for career wins, will be taking one of three American teams to participate in the Eighth Annual ODP Girls Regional Tournament in Costa Rica.
The tournament, which will be a round-robin style, starts on Feb. 15 and runs through Feb. 19. Hempen’s Region III team will compete against three First Division women’s teams from Costa Rica: Saprissa, Arenal Coronado and the U-17 National Team.
The Region III team opens up the tournament against the U-17 National Team on Feb. 15 before taking on Arenal Coronado on Feb. 16. Hempen’s squad will close out the tournament against Saprissa on Feb. 19. Full information on the tournament as well as photos, interviews, videos and match statistics can be found here.
