Next on the tee...
The Colorado State women’s golf team travels to Fresno, Calif., to compete in the Fresno State Lexus Classic, hosted by the Fresno State Bulldogs, April 15-16. It marks the Rams’ fifth tournament of the spring season. It is the third year that the Rams have competed in the event and first time since  the 2007-08 season. CSU finished 10th in the tournament that season.

The setting...
The Rams will tee off this week for 54 holes in two days at the Copper River Country Club in Fresno, Calif., a Par-72 course that sprawls 6,212 yards.  The tournament opens with 36 holes on Monday with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. MT, and wraps up with 18 holes on Tuesday, with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m. MT

The tournament field...
The 2013 Fresno State Lexus Classic will feature 15 teams. Colorado State, No. 129 in the latest GolfWeek/Sagarin team rankings, will face off against host Fresno State (82), and five of the top-75 programs in the nation. Those teams include Oregon State (73), Long Beach State (72), Tulsa (63), UC Irvine (62) and San Jose State (55). Also competing in the tournament is defending champion Cal State-Fullerton (80). The field also includes: Cal Poly (156), Idaho (92), Sacramento State (145), UC Riverside (111), Nevada (91), Wyoming (148) and New Mexico (87).

The Rams’ lineup...
The Rams will use their eighth lineup of the season this week at the Fresno State Lexus Classic. The top of the CSU lineup will have a familiar look, as Emily Roering will play the No. 1 slot for the eighth time this season, while Betsy Kelly is slotted into the No. 2 position for the fourth time in 2012-13. Jessa LaBarbera will tee off as the Rams’ No. 3 golfer, her first time at the third position. Christina Spinzig will take the fourth spot for the second time this year. Spinzig’s only other tournament in the four spot was the Westbrook Spring Inviational where she finished tied for 36th. Cecilie Krefting rounds out the Rams’ lineup in the No. 5 spot and will see her first action in a monh after last competing in the MounainView Collegiate on March 15-16.

Rams at the Fresno State Lexus Classic..
The Colorado State women’s golf program has competed in the Lexus Classic twice prior to this year. The last time the Rams competed was during the 2007-08 season when they finished 10th out of 16 teams. The other time that CSU participated in the tournament was during the 2005-06 season, when they took 10th in a field of 16.

Rams’ last tournament...
Colorado State had its fourth tournament of the spring, notching its second top-five finish of the year by placing fifth at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic. Emily Roering led the Rams as she tied for 14th in the tournament. It is the third time in the last four outings that Roering has been the Rams’ leading individual leader. The junior played a consistent tournament, good for her fifth top-25 performance this season and second top-20 performance. Sarah Roering, playing as an individual, registered a career-best performance by finishing tied for 22nd in the tournament, which included a career-best round of 73. Besty Kelly finished tied for 32nd while Jessa LaBarbera, who tied for 35th, and Christina Spinzig, who tied for 37th, were not far behind. Mikayla Tatman rounded out the effort by finishing tied for 52nd.
