TUCSON, Ariz. – The Colorado State women’s golf team wrapped up the first two rounds of the Mountain View Collegiate Invitational on Friday in 10th place.
Playing on the par 72, MountainView Golf Club, the Rams carded a two-round total of 601 (+25), and are only eight strokes out of a Top 5 finish.
In the opening round, CSU was tied for seventh after shooting a nine-over 297 and were led by redshirt sophomore Mikayla Tatman. The native of Longmont, Colo., who was playing for the first time since September at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational, carded a one-over 73. After two rounds, Tatman sits in a tie for 30th at five-over.
Tatman, who carded six birdies on Friday, is joined by seniors Christina Spinzig and Emily Roering, who are also five-over (149). The three Rams are only two strokes out of a Top 20 finish.
Junior Jessa LaBarbera is currently sitting in 52nd place after carding a 36-hole score of 154 (+10). Freshman Elisabeth Rau is just two strokes behind LaBarbera at 156 (+12).
Senior Sarah Roering, who is playing as an individual, shot a 15-over 159 through 36 holes.
Nebraska sits atop the team leaderboard after carding a 579 (+3). Just five strokes behind the Cornhuskers is Kent State (+8).
Gonzaga’s Alice Kim leads the Mountain View Collegiate Invitational with a score of four-under.
The Rams will look to move up the leaderboard on Saturday morning as the final round begins at 8 a.m. MT.
