Women's Golf Release: Rams travel to Utah for BYU at Entrada Classic

Next on the tee...

The Colorado State women's golf team travels to St. George, Utah for the BYU at Entrada Classic beginning on Monday, March 17. This is the Rams' first appearance at this tournament since March of 2011. In their last appearance, the Rams fniished in 13th place and recorded a three-round total of 964.

BYU at Entrada Classic format...
The 16-team field will be participating in a 54-hole, two day tournament, played on the par 72, 6,015-yard Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club in St. George, Utah. Beginning on Monday at 8:30 a.m. MT, the teams will play 36 holes in a shotgun start with the final 18 holes being played on Tuesday. The lowest four individual scores will determine the team scores for each round. This will be the shortest course the Rams have played on this year.

The Rams' lineup...
At the BYU at Entrada Classic, junior Jessa LaBarbera will tee off as the Rams' No. 1. This is the first time in her career at this position, and previously her highest spot was at No. 3. Senior Emily Roering and freshman Elisabeth Rau will play at the Nos. 2 and 3 spots. Senior's Christina Spinzig and Sarah Roering round out the CSU lineup.

Last Round...
In the Rams' last outing at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational at the Almaden Golf & Country Club in San Jose, Calif., CSU finished 11th out of 13 but had its best performance at the Spartan Invitational. Led by junior Jessa LaBarbera, who shot a career-best 223, the Rams recorded a three-round total of 907. This represented CSU's lowest score at this event all time. In 2013, the Rams carded a 968 (+104) at the Spartan Invitational.

Freshman Elisabeth Rau, who will play in her fifth consecutive tournament on Monday, has been playing strong as of late for the Rams. In San Jose, Rau carded a 54-hole total of 230, the second lowest tournament of her career.

Returning Rams...
Colorado State returns one of their most experienced group of players in many years. The 2013-14 roster is made up of four seniors (Emily Roering, Christina Spinzig, Sarah Roering and Betsy Kelly), one junior (Jessa LaBarbera) and a pair of sophomores (Mikayla Tatman and Haley King) with collegiate playing experience. New to the CSU women's golf program is Elisabeth Rau, from Irving, Texas, and Yesong Han out of Yuma, Ariz.

Ferguson named the best...
Former CSU women's golfer, Stefanie Ferguson was voted the Best Instructor for Women by Colorado AvidGolfer Magazine at the beginning of the February. Ferguson was a team captain for the Rams while competing from 2005 to 2009. She is now the LPGA Lead Instructor at Green Valley Ranch Golf Academy in Denver, Colo.
