Rams to compete at Spartan Invitational... The Colorado State Rams begin their 2005 Spring season with the Spartan Invitational March 8th-9th, hosted by San Jose State in Salinas Calif. The tournament will be played at the Corral De Tierra Country Club, which is a 5,826 yard, par 72 championship course. 36 holes will be played with a shotgun start on March 8th at 8 a.m., and 18 holes starting off of holes 1 & 10 will conclude the tournament March 9th. This is the first year the Rams have competed in the Spartan Invitational.

The field... The Rams face stiff competition in the 15 team field. Washington and UCLA are currently ranked fifth and sixth respectively in the nation, according to Golfstat. Rounding out the field include UC Irvine, UNLV, BYU, San Francisco, California, San Jose State, New Mexico State, Colorado, Fresno State, Hawaii, Santa Clara, and CS Monterey Bay.

Wrapping up the fall.... The Rams had a strong fall season. They won the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic and finished second in two others. Their worst tournament was the Las Vegas Founders Collegiate, where the Rams finished 11th due to inclement weather and injuries. The 11th place finish is the worst for the Rams since the 2003 Dick McGuire Invitational, where they placed 16th.

Senior Lynette Duran currently leads the Rams with a per-round average of 75.29, followed closely by fellow senior Trisha Quick at 75.35. Senior Margaret Garehime carded the low round of the season, shooting a second-round 69 at the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic.

Up Next... The Rams travel to Irvine, Calif. for the Anteater Invitational March 15-16.
