Next on the tee...
The Colorado State women’s golf team travels to Peoria, Ariz., to compete in the 2013 Westbrook Spring Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin, Feb. 24-25. It marks the Rams’ first tournament of the spring season. It marks the second year that the Rams have competed in the event. CSU finished 11th last year.

The tournament field...
The 2013 Westbrook Spring Invitational will feature 13 teams. Colorado State, No. 127 in the latest GolfWeek/Sagarin team rankings, will face off against host Wisconsin (44), and two top-10 ranked programs in Arkansas (7) and Washington (9). Also competing in the tournament are: Texas Tech (14), Indiana (51), Mississippi State (65), Washington State (73),  Kansas State (75), Iowa (85), Eastern Michigan (95), Illinois (117) and Nebraska (138)

The Rams’ lineup...
The Rams will use their fifth different lineup of the season. Junior Emily Roering, the Rams’ leader in stroke average (75.73) moves back to the No. 1 slot, followed by junior Betsy Kelly who starts her third tournament of the season at the Rams’ No. 2 spot.  Redshirt freshman Mikayla Tatman, who competed in the four spot in first four tournament of the Rams’ fall schedule, will tee off at No. 3 for the Rams. Junior Christina Spinzig, one of three Rams along with Roering and Kelly to compete in every tournament this year, will play at No. 4 for the Rams, while senior Cecilie Krefting will compete at No. 5, her third straight tournament in the Rams’ lineup and her fourth overall of the year after competing as an individual CSU’s own Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic. Sophomore Jessa LaBarbera will play her fourth tourney of the year, and her second as an individual.



Rams familiar with the course...
Two players in the Rams’ lineup this weekend also competed in the 2012 Westbrook Spring Invitational, as Betsy Kelly and Cecilie Krefting finished tied for 21st and tied for 51st, respectively, in last year’s event.  Kelly shot a three-round score of 221, including an even-par 72 during Round 2.  Krefting finished with a score of 229 (+13), shooting rounds of 76, 77 and 76. 

The setting...
The Rams will tee off this week at the Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Ariz. The course features a par-72 layout that sprawls 6,269 yards.  Tee times begin at 8:30 a.m. MT on Sunday, followed by a second round beginning at 1 p.m. Monday’s final round begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

Rams’ last tournament...
Colorado State closed its last tournament of the fall season by placing 17th at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. After struggling in the early in the tournament, with rounds of 326 and 314 in the first and second rounds, respectively, the Rams bounced back with an improved performance in Round 3 to finish. The Rams posted a 21-stroke improvement over the first round, tallying a team-total of 305. Junior Betsy Kelly led the Rams, finishing tied for 20th in the 96-player field with a 73 (+1) in the final round of action, her second-lowest round of the year.
