Women's golf recap: Rams off to slow start at Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown
Oct. 21, 2012 LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Colorado State women’s golf team is off to a slow start at the 11th annual Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. The Rams tallied a first-round team score of 326 (+38) and are in 18th place heading into Monday’s second round of action at the Stallion Mountain Golf Club. Betsy Kelly paces the Rams’ lineup through the first 18 holes. The junior from Forest Lake, Minn., carded a four-over 76, including birdies on holes 13-15, to sit in a tie for 29th, six strokes off the pace in tourney leader Elizabeth Tong of Indiana. Sisters Sarah and Emily Roering, and Cecilie Krefting, rounded out the scoring for the Rams on Day 1. Sarah and Emily Roering each carded first-round scores of 83 (+11) to tie for 83rd. Krefting shot an 84 (+12) to tie for 91st. Junior Christina Spinzig finished one stroke off of Kerfting’s pace in a tie for 93rd. The Rams return to the course Monday between 8:58 and 9:30 a.m. PT.
