FRESNO, Calif. – The Colorado State women’s golf team concluded play at the 2013 Fresno State Lexus Classic on Tuesday, carding a final-round team score of 314 (+26) to finish tied for 14th at the Copper River Country Club.
Colorado State was led by junior Emily Roering, who tallied her seventh tournament of the season as the Rams’ top finisher. Roering, a native of Glenwood, Minn., continued to improve throughout the tournament, carding her lowest round of the 54-hole event, a 75 (+3), during Tuesday’s final round. She tallied a three-round score of 228 (+12) to finish tied for 25th.
Junior Christina Spinzig finished one stroke behind Roering in a tie for 29th. After carding an opening round of 75, Spinzig shaved two strokes off of her Round 2 score of 78 to card a 76 in Round 3 and finish tied for 29th with a 229 (+13).
Sophmore Jessa LaBarbera and junior Betsy Kelly rounded out the scoring for the Rams in Round 3. LaBarbera posted an 81 (+9) to slide into a tie for 58th with a three-round score of 237, four strokes ahead of Kelly who tied for 66th.
Senior Cecilie Krefting also competed for the Rams, finishing 78th with a three-round score of 256.
Long Beach State took home the team championship with a three-round score of 892 (+28). The 49er’s Simone Hoey earned medalist honors by shooting a 211 (-5).
The Rams return to the links April 25-27 for the 2013 Mountain West Championship on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
