TUCSON, Ariz. - Sophomore Kasey Claussen fired a second-round 73 (+1) and finished the first day of competition in a tie for 23rd with a 6-over-par 150 at the MountainView Collegiate at the par-72, 6,126-yard MountainView Golf Course.
Claussen bounced back from the 5-over-par 77 that she carded in the tournament's opening round to pace the CSU women's golf team. Freshman Cecilia Edlund also turned in an impressive performance in the second round of action. After shooting an 80 in the opening round, Edlund shot a season-low round of 74 to finish just four strokes behind Claussen in a tie for 59th with a 154 (+10).
Junior Stefanie Ferguson - the Rams' leader in stroke average - carded rounds of 77 and 78 to finish at 11 over par in a tie for 62nd. Freshman Kayley Kempton finished one stroke behind Ferguson in a tie for 68th to round out the scoring for the Rams.
Sophomore Natalie Stone is tied for 88th after carding back-to-back rounds of 81.
The Rams resume play Sunday morning with the final 18 holes from the MountainView Golf Course. Colorado State will then head to St. George, Utah, to compete in the BYU Dixie Classic on Tuesday.
