Colorado State (1-1) hosts Seattle University (0-2) at Moby Arena (8,745) on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. MT.

The Rams four-game homestand to begin the regular season is against teams they lost to on the road last year. So far Colorado State has avenged one loss, UNC, with two remaing games in the stretch.

With the return of two-time all-conference selection, Sam Martin, and the reigning Mountain West Sixth Player of the Year, Meghan Heimstra, the Rams will look to improve upon last season’s 13-17 record. Sophomore LaDeyah Forte leads Colorado State from the point guard position. She finished second in assist-to-turnover ratio in the MW in her rookie year.

Seattle travels to Fort Collins after two tough losses to Pacific (71-70) and Washington (77-75, OT) at home. Saturday's game will be the only road game for the Redhawks in Novermber.

The game will be broadcast live on AM 1410 KIIX. Matt Wozniak, now in his fourth season with the Rams, calls all the action. Live game video will also be available via Rams All-Access subscription on CSURams.com, and for the first time, fans will be able to listen to every Rams' game for free on Rams All-Access.

About Seattle…

  • The Redhawks are in their inaugural season in Division I athletics, competing in the Western Athletic Conference.
  • Seattle completed its best season in program history last year with a 20-12 record, advancing to the final four of the Women’s Basketball Invitational before faltering vs. Northern Iowa.
SU was picked to finish fourth out of 10 teams in both the WAC media and coaches polls.
  • SU is 0-2 early in the season, with losses to Pacific and Seattle rival Washington.
  • Including their two exhibtion games, the Redhawks have fought some tough battles. Seattle has gone to overtime in two contests, including and double-overtime win over Western Washington in exhibition. Three out of its first four games have been won by a margin of three points or less.
  • The Redhawks have four players averaging double-digits so far this year. They are led by Kacie Sowell (20.5) and Ashley Ward (19.0). Sowell also averages the most boards on the team with 12.5 per game followed by Brenda Adhiambo with 8.0
  • Sowell, a junior, was named the WAC player of the week for her double-double performance (19p, 11r) vs. Pacific. An accurate shooter, Sowell finished fifth in the nation in field-goal percentage last season. She was also named the Independent Women's Basketball Player of the Year.
  • Head Coach Joan Bonvicini will coach her 1,001st game at Moby Arena Saturday. She has compiled a 646-354 record in 34 years as a head coach. She is in her fourth season at Seattle, with a 34-60 record at the helm.

Series vs. the Redhawks...
Saturday's meeting between Colorado State and Seattle will be the second game between the two schools. This is Head Coach Ryun Williams sixth contest vs. the Redhawks. He is 1-4, with a 1-1 record on his home court.

The Rams are 0-1 vs. Seattle overall. This will be Seattle's first visit to Moby Arena.

Last time at Seattle: Jan. 8, 2012...
It was a tale of two halves as Colorado State relinquished a nine-point lead, allowing Seattle to pull away at the Connolly Center. The Rams fell to the Redhawks 61-43.

CSU (4-11) was up by as much as nine late in the first half, but the Redhawks (10-6) regained the advantage with 13 minutes remaining in the second stanza, taking an 11-point lead on a 14-0 run. The Rams did not score a single field goal in the second half until the 9:48 mark, and shot a .227 percentage in the final half of the game.

The Rams committed 24 turnovers, and the Redhawks took full advantage, scoring 29 points off the team’s giveaways.

Kim Mestdagh broke her scoreless streak with a quick three pointer five minutes into the contest. She finished the game with her first double-digit score since Dec. 20, scoring 10 on the afternoon. Kara Spotton also recorded double figures in her second-consecutive tallying 11 points.

Hanne Mestdagh scored her first career points in a Rams' uniform with a jump shot midway through the first half. Assisting her on the play was her sister Kim Mestdagh.

Sam Martin’s playing time was limited due to a nagging knee injury. She tallied four rebounds, including a team-high three offensive boards in seven minutes in the first half.
