WBCA Release

LILBURN, Ga. – The Colorado State women’s basketball team was recognized Thursday with a spot on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. The Rams are one of the top schools academically at the NCAA DI level, ranking No. 22 with a 3.399 grade-point average.

This is the first time Colorado State has made the list, dating back to the 1995-96 season, when the WBCA first recognized the honor roll. CSU was the only school in the Mountain West and one of three Colorado schools to make the list this year, joining Northern Colorado who falls in at No.3 (3.614) and Denver at No. 14 (3.498). Missouri-Kansas City took the top spot with a 3.628 GPA.

Head Coach Ryun Williams is proud of the team’s success. “This is a team goal every year and a tremendous honor and achievement by our women’s basketball program,” he said. “Not only are they winners on the court, but most importantly they win in the classroom. Also, my hats off to our academic support team and administration for their strong commitment to academic success.”

The ranking takes into account a team’s cumulative GPA over the past two semesters (or four quarters) following the 2013-14 academic year.

The Mountain West recently awarded 12 women’s basketball student-athletes all-conference honors, a program record. Of those 12, four Rams were also named MW Scholar-Athletes for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, tying the squad’s record set in 2008.
