Canada Basketball | DWNT Roster and Schedule
KAZAN, Russia - Kara Spotton is representing her native country of Canada on the Development Women's National Team (DWNT) at the 2013 FISU Summer Universiade (also known as the World University Games).
Playing four games in four days, the Canadians have compiled a 1-3 record. Spotton and company will face Sweden (2-2) in a semifinal game Saturday at 3 a.m. MT to battle for fifth place.
Spotton saw significant action in the team's opener vs. Japan. She played nearly 12 minutes, tallying three points and four rebounds, including a team-high two boards on the offensive glass.
The junior sat out the team's second game vs. Ukraine, and had a short, but productive, 2 minutes vs. Chinese Taipei, pulling down two rebounds.
Hopes for a championship were lost after Canada couldn't hold off a seasoned Australian team, losing 72-58. The Fort Collins product registered two points, two rebounds and two steals.
