June 26, 2013

DWNT Roster

TORONTO, Ontario – Colorado State women’s basketball player Kara Spotton has be invited to play with Canada Basketball’s Women’s Development National Team (DWNT).

Spotton will represent her native country at the 2013 FISU Summer Universiade (also known as the World University Games) in Kazan, Russia beginning July 8. The quarter-finals will begin on July 12 followed by the semifinals on July 13.

“Making the Canada DWNT is really exciting for me,” said Spotton. “I’m looking forward to working with the coaches and players here. It’s a great opportunity to develop my game and play with and against players outside of the U.S.”

Entering her junior season this fall, Spotton played in 26 games last year, scoring double figures in four contests. Averaging 5.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per matchup, she recorded a career-high 19 points vs. South Dakota Mines.

Spotton was born in Belleville, Ontario, before moving to Fort Collins. The DWNT opens play vs. Japan at 12 a.m. MT on July 8.
